SSL/TLS

TLS encrypts data connections on the internet; SSL is its obsolete predecessor, though the term remains widely used.

TLS secures data exchanged between browsers, servers, and other services through encryption and authentication. This helps prevent transmitted information from being intercepted or altered in transit. SSL is technically obsolete, although the term is still commonly used when referring to TLS certificates and encrypted HTTPS connections. The concept is closely related to Hosting and Domain.
