Webflow is not only a powerful tool for creating static and classic websites, but can also be used as a content management system. We would like to comprehensively introduce you to the Webflow CMS and its advantages, present you with the various options for easy use and give you a comprehensive introduction to the topic.
What is the Webflow CMS anyway?
The Webflow web editor is not only able to easily create static websites of various sizes, but also offers you the option of being used as a content management system. This means that you can not only create the content independently of the design, but also work with several authors on a website without the other authors being able to change the design of the contributions. This is a significant advantage, especially for blogs, but also for news sites. Thanks to the intuitive interface and the definition of the individual content fields by the administrator, you always have full control over all content and the entire design of the website.
What are the benefits of Webflow CMS?
While most CMS systems available on the market only give users freedom within certain limits and are often complex in design, Webflow CMS takes a different approach. Since Webflow can also be used to design static websites, funnels and landing pages, the extension with Webflow CMS thus offers maximum freedom in design and content design. In addition, you only have to learn one system once and can therefore create all pages of your choice with Webflow.
Since Webflow CMS also works with a visual editor, you can create content and design intuitively and immediately see all changes at a glance. Ideal if you don't want to go deep into the areas of HTML and CSS, but still want a professionally programmed website. With Webflow CMS, you can flexibly create your websites of choice and allow other users to create new content exactly according to your design requirements. Because thanks to simple rights management, you are free to make changes to the design of the page and overall appearance.

Clearly programmed, without programming knowledge
Programming a page yourself requires considerable effort. Many pitfalls can lead to problems here. However, using an existing CMS is often limited due to a lack of functions or designs. With Webflow CMS, the ideal solution is available. With the simple visual editor, a page or design can be created easily and without much effort and then transferred to the various pages. It is particularly important that Webflow CMS generates valid HTML and CSS code, which can also be read cleanly by search engine crawlers, among other things. This offers enormous advantages, especially when it comes to search engine optimization, and can help to sustainably improve the ranking.
If you don't have any programming skills, you can still create effective and easy-to-use pages with Webflow CMS. If you can also program in HTML and CSS, Webflow CMS opens even more doors and can fine-tune and optimize many functions. Webflow CMS is a complete content management system with all necessary facets.
Direct visualization during the ongoing process
With the simple editor, you can observe and evaluate all changes in the ongoing process. Among other things, this makes it much easier for you to try out different variants of a design, which, among other things, significantly speeds up decision-making. This is because repositioning elements in Webflow CMS does not require much effort, but can be carried out with just a few mouse clicks. Since the Webflow CMS is also strictly logical, all elements can be learned intuitively. With a little practice, designing in Webflow CMS almost goes by itself.
Individually adaptable to any design
With Webflow CMS, you can not only customize the design as you like, but you can also easily change and vary it. These changes are forwarded to all associated sub-pages so that the entire website continues to look like a single piece. Regardless of whether you want to create a news portal via Webflow CMS, create a blog for your company or present your portfolio. With Webflow CMS, adapt everything to new technical solutions or a changed market environment and thus ensure the necessary variability. Thanks to the extremely wide range of functions offered by Webflow CMS and also thanks to regular updates and innovations, your website will always be technically up to date.
The Webflow CMS - away from static pages
Static pages can be useful and helpful if you only want to display individual content that barely changes. Landing pages, for example, are typical pages. Microwebsites and digital business cards are also generally rather static. With Webflow CMS, however, you have a tool that allows you to create both static and dynamic pages and content. The main advantage is that you don't have to get used to a new development environment, but find all functions in one dashboard in Webflow CMS. Thanks to the catchy “What you see is what you get” principle, you benefit from the many advantages of Webflow CMS even without technical knowledge.
Why rely on Webflow CMS?
Of course, there are many different content management systems on the market. But if you want to set up static pages in addition to such pages, you must then pick up further programs and, if necessary, re-familiarise yourself. In contrast, Webflow CMS offers all options from a single source. The various projects can be created, modified and managed via a dashboard. Depending on the usage plan, several users can also work on a project or fill it with content according to specifications.
In addition, Webflow CMS is based on the effective principle of a modular system, which allows the user to fully control all details. The more experienced you are in the areas of graphic design and HTML programming, the more you will notice how practical the Webflow CMS approach is. You can customize each element individually and still get a page with clearly readable HTML and CSS code, which is optimized for SEO optimization and search engine crawlers, among other things. Speaking URLs, a clear page structure and a high level of usability characterize the pages created with Webflow CMS.
Getting started - how to start working with Webflow CMS
Before you can use Webflow CMS features, there are a few steps you need to take. Because Webflow gives you the opportunity to use dynamic content in various areas. You can create your own designs and templates for blogs, portfolios and news pages, which can then be used permanently by users. We'll show you which steps are necessary so that you can quickly and easily create new content pages in your Webflow CMS in the future. To do this, we start at the bottom left of the Webflow Editor, where all CMS content is listed. Regardless of whether you want to create a system for blog posts, news or a portfolio, it all starts here. And that's by creating a collection.
Create a collection — a collection point for CMS content
So-called collections are the first step towards dynamic content. This is important because the collection works like a collection. We can create a fixed design for a collection and also what content should be displayed in that collection. This is important because some websites want to display not just one type of dynamic content, but different types of content. This makes it very easy for us to separate and organize this via the collections. Webflow CMS even provides templates for various collections that we can easily customize. Webflow CMS offers templates for blog posts, menus, news or events, among other things. It is important that you name each individual collection individually so that it is easier to find and assign them later on.
In each collection, you can now define which fields in the collection should be displayed in the editor and which fields must be filled out compulsorily, for example. This allows you to define, among other things, which elements must always be present in the design later to ensure the uniform appearance. You can also create help texts for the individual fields, which makes it easier for new users of your Webflow CMS to create new content in the editor later on. In the collections, you have complete freedom to adjust all settings. From character limits to mandatory fields. In any case, take enough time, as changes can be made here later, but they will not be automatically extended for older contributions. It therefore makes sense to set up the necessary fields and requirements in a structured manner right from the start.
If you agree with all settings, you can simply create this collection with a click in the upper right area of the Webflow CMS. This can now be selected from the menu on the left.
Create the actual content - use the editor in Webflow CMS
If we now click on the collection we have just created, we will see all existing content in this collection listed. None are yet to be found. We can easily create this by clicking on “New content”. The Webflow CMS also allows us to generate sample content quickly and easily. These are filled with blind text and sample images according to the specifications so that we can then work on the actual design. This content can also be edited or deleted after the work is complete. This allows you to carry out the work very quickly using Webflow CMS without having to generate new content yourself at the start. Ideal if you just define the design and, for example, your editorial team or employees are asked to add the content later.
Generate the presentation - set the design for all content
Now that the collection and content have been created, it's a matter of missing out on this design. Because this is the most important point with Webflow CMS. You can create a static page design in Webflow CMS and then fill it with dynamic content. To do this, you use sections and containers in Webflow CMS to position the various contents. But that would be static content for now. To make this content dynamic in Webflow CMS, you must specify for the individual elements which content of the collection should be displayed in these fields. In the field for the heading, the link to the heading field in the collection is therefore created.
In other words, you create a design for a collection in Webflow CMS, which is applied to every content and every entry within the collection. For this reason, you need to think carefully about which fields you want in the collection to include them all in your design. It's nice that you can still change the design afterwards and that these changes are easily transferred to all content on the site. This is where the enormous advantages of Webflow CMS are once again clearly shown.

Whether it's a landing page, sales funnel or blog — the Webflow CMS is a powerful tool
In contrast to many other CMS systems, Webflow CMS offers you the advantage that you can not only customize the editor's fields yourself, but also have full control over the appearance of the entries. This means that you don't have to adopt, adapt and individually cut templates, but can determine the design quickly and easily thanks to the intuitive system. Both graphical and mathematical settings are available, which make it particularly easy to combine designs and content perfectly. In contrast to a standard website builder, Webflow CMS allows you to set all values precisely and store them with clean and clearly recognizable programming. Regardless of whether you are planning complex menus, special design elements or interactive content, in Webflow CMS, you can explore all options with just a few clicks.
